December is here and so are the joys of the holidays!  Below are a few dates and reminders of things happening here at Millwood Elementary during the month of December.

Food Donations for Beacon House - We will be donating non-perishable food to Beacon House again this year.  The Food Train will be in the main hallway of the school from December 1st to 20th.  We will be filling the boxes daily.  Food will be delivered to Beacon House after the December Pride Assembly.

MOST NEEDED ITEMS:

•     soup and stew
•     canned meat and fish
•     canned vegetables and fruit
•     pasta and rice
•     pasta sauce
•     peanut butter 
•     cereal
•     formula, baby food and baby cereal
•     powdered and canned milk
•     granola bars
•     pudding cups
•     juice (bottles, cans, boxes)
•     boxed crackers

NOTE:  To avoid waste, please don't donate items past their expiry date.

Candy Grams - As a fundraiser for the Breakfast Program here at Millwood Elementary, we will be selling Candy Grams during the month of December.  We will be sending home the Candy Grams on December 5th.  Each student will be sent home with 4 Candy-Grams, the cost is $0.50 each (more can be sent home if requested).  Fill out the Candy-Gram with students’ names and classes, as well as messages, and return them to school the week of December 10th-14th.  Each Candy-Gram will be attached to a candy cane and delivered to students to enjoy on Thursday, December 20th.

Holiday Concerts - Two tickets per family for the evening performances will be coming home on December 7th.  Please send tickets that you do not need back to the school.  Contact the main office at (902) 864-7510 if you require additional tickets and we will add your name to the waiting list.  Grades 3-5 perform on Tuesday, December 11th at 6:30 pm.  Grades P-2 perform on Wednesday, December 12th at 6:30 pm.  Doors open at 6:00 pm.

          Thursday, December 20th:       Red & Green Day
          Friday, December 21st:            Pajama Day

December Pride Assembly - On Thursday, December 20th at 10:30 am we will be holding our December Pride Assembly.  The theme is Generosity and the Primary students will be performing. Students will bring final food donations to stuff the Food Train at the assembly on December 20th.
